As artists, we have these strong artistic tendencies, but drawing self-portrait might be quite a challenge for some. I also started from scratch, but with practice, just as I do, you’ll be able to master it, too. Here’s a beginner guide to help you on how to draw self-portrait art.

Sketch Pad of any kind will be the best training ground for beginners. Even if you are not a naturally born artist, you can make use of these easy steps to make an actual self portrait. In my case, it helps me practice trial and error method, from i which i invested time and dedication o finish the artwork.   

There are various tips that you can apply in order to successfully finish your artwork:(1) Be patient. It takes time to make a self portrait, keep calm. (2) Be Confident. If you are worrying as of what will be the outcome of your art work, don't worry 'practice makes perfect'. (3) Do not give-up. Failure comes to those who surrender.

Below are the basic steps that helped me in my milestone. 

1. Select Reference. Everything will depend on your chosen reference. The first step in drawing a self portrait is choosing the photo you want to draw. The photo below is my picture in my 11th Grade. I make sure i has less details and easy to draw, since this is only a practice.

2. A Circle. Circle is a simple closed shape. When i thought of making anime cartoons and basic head figure, i first thought of the shape circle. Draw a circle, as big as the size of the head you desire. This is the simpliest step, making a circle is making a  head already. The circle itself will be your guide in making a good portrait.
